Halloween Fruit Monsters and Lunchbox Love #7

Welcome to our weekly Friday feature, Allergy Friendly Lunchbox Love!  This link party is specifically for your dishes that will travel well in a lunchbox, and if they're free of some (or all) of the top eight food allergens, that's even better :)

It's almost Halloween, and I can't stop thinking about cute things to make for the holiday!  Inspired by all of the great Halloween lunch ideas out there (and especially by one of our submissions this week... you'll see!) I set my knife to a few fruits and veggies this week and suddenly our kitchen was full of food monsters, zombies and weird-looking jack-o-lanterns :)

Allergy-friendly, yet still cute, these crazy fruity guys can be made from just about anything you have in your fridge.  I used oranges, bananas, avocados and a rice cake, and finally found a use for our vintage sword cocktail picks (it's hard to see in the photo above, but most of these creatures met their end via a sharp blade to the head.... boys love that kind of thing.)  Chocolate chips come in handy for eyes and screaming mouths, and SunButter works well as glue.

Today I'm featuring two great submissions from last week's party... a lunchbox full of inspiring Halloween foods from Keeley McGuire, and a fancied-up version of roasted pumpkin seeds from The Giggling Chef.  Keeley's lunchbox features all sorts of scary creatures made from cucumbers, apples, pasta and hot dogs, and check out the googly eyes on the fork and spoon!  The Giggling Chef has taken roasted pumpkin seeds to a new level by adding rosemary and garlic, and I'll never go back to Worcestershire sauce on my seeds again :)  Click the links and stop by their blogs to get all the details.
