Sometimes, you just need a sweet treat. There are many reasons, however, that we may be avoiding sugar, whether we are battling insulin resistance, leaky gut, SIBO, or following a Paleo diet. Luckily, there are many wonderful substitutes for white sugar, and bananas are one of our favorites.
This milkshake is dairy free as well, and takes just a minute to whirl together in the blender. You can freeze the bananas ahead of time if you have a few left over, or you can chill the drink after it's been made to make it taste more like ice cream. The thickness of the bananas is what gives this shake its pudding-like consistency, and the cinnamon and vanilla bring to mind the Nilla Wafers of old!
Banana Pudding Milkshake
3 bananas
1/2 can coconut milk (creamy part)
1 cup coconut milk (the drink)
1 Tbsp cinnamon
3 Tbsp coconut sugar*
1 cup coconut flakes
Blend all ingredients & chill.
*Note: You might be able to use maple syrup as an alternative.
